Hi, my name is Jennifer Farhat.  I am a kindergarten teacher at the American Academy in Mizhar located in Dubai.  Dubai is a coastal city located in the United Arab Emirates. It is a fun and interesting place to live and very open and progressive for the Arab region. We are an all-girls school and most of my students are Emirates who speak English as a second language. I graduated from UNO many years ago with a degree in Psychology and again five years ago from Peru State with a K-8 education diploma.

I have a love/hate relationship with technology.  I love the many wonderful applications I have mastered but have also spent a lot of time crying in frustration over many a computer. Thankfully, I have many techie family members and friends to help me out.  I usually use a PC but occasionally work on a Mac.  In my classroom, I have two computers and an Interactive whiteboard. I have Office 2007.  Some of the software I have experience with are: interactive whiteboard software, blogger, Camtasia, Windows Movie Maker, Power point, Prezi, 4teachers tools, Story jumper, Raz kids , Smile box, and wikispace.

I am not currently pursuing a masters at Peru State but am taking classes to recertify with the State of Nebraska. I am very happy to find online classes that I can take from the other side of the world that allow me to accomplish that goal.  I just finished EDUC 553 and really enjoyed learning new technology and look forward to learning more.  When I do return for a Masters, I would like to become an Information Specialist/librarian.
